Group 8B was at it again this month with another awesome project. For the theme 'Attitude of Gratitude', they baked homemade chocolate chip cookies and delivered them to workers at the Nelson County Courthouse and to S&S Ag Service in Petersburg.

CHARGERS NATION honored its boys' senior basketball athletes and their parents during a special Senior Night Recognition before the basketball game VS Cavalier on February 20th.
The seniors have been leaders on and off the field, and this night was about giving them a moment in the spotlight. We thank Axel, Gage, and Keegen for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the Chargers sports program.

Our freshmen tackled the classic poem "O Captain! My Captain!" and worked together to save their ship through solving puzzles and clues in an escape room challenge.

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS to Nathan Beglau, Bennett Ohnstad, and Graham Corby. These boys qualified to compete in the state MATHCOUNTS competition in Bismarck. Great job, boys! ➕➖✖️➗

The Dakota Prairie 4th graders wanted to do a class project that would incorporate the 4R’s (Respect, Relationships, Rigor, and Responsibility) and lessons from their 7 Mindsets class. They wanted to give back to their community, so they came up with a Giving Hearts chore project. They would do chores to raise money for the Nelson County Health Foundation in honor of Giving Hearts Day.
The students raised $200 and were so excited to find out, with the matched funds, they raised $400.
Way to go, 4th grade!

It was a G-R-E-A-T day for our spellers at the Nelson County Spelling Bee!

Brooklyn received a response to the business letter she sent to the Hershey Company as part of a class assignment. Not only did they reply, but they also sent her a few chocolate bars 🍫—sweet bonus!
Brooklyn is the first student to receive a response from a company since Ms. Hurst started this assignment a few years ago.

Congratulations to Dagan Slade on her acceptance into the prestigious North Dakota Governor’s School! This program recognizes outstanding students for their academic achievements, leadership potential, and commitment to excellence.

Wallwork Truck Centers joined the manufacturing class to present on their employment opportunities. Wallwork is located all over North Dakota with a new facility on the west side of Grand Forks. They repair and sell new trucks and distribute parts. They have been in business for over 100 years and is owned and run by the same family. Students looking at general diesel or autobody are in high demand there.

Best of luck to our DP spellers this Wednesday!

Andee from Dickinson State University presented to the accounting and cybersecurity classes about opportunities in those fields. One thing that stood out is DSU offers 1 year, 2 year, and 4 year programs in a large variety of subjects. I've personally never heard of universities offering programs like this. For example, they offer a 1 year meat processing certificate and a 2 year associates in elementary education. Another thing to note is they offer LIVE dual credit courses which means you will learn from an instructor at a designated time who is teaching live. For those you haven't witnessed dual credit classes lately, they are almost all self-paced and self-taught rarely having any interaction (other than instant messaging) with a teacher.

Ms. Molstad and Mrs. Johnson's 7 Mindsets group held a bake sale and a hat day to raise money for Giving Hearts Day on February 13th. Students brought in goods such as Chex mix, brownies, cookies, etc. They were able to raise $250 dollars to donate to Hope Inc out of Fargo. Hope Inc. provides sport and recreation for individuals and families with mobility challenges.

Mr. Slade came into the freshmen English classes as a guest teacher.

DP FCCLA hosted 110 students and advisors for the district competition at Petersburg Lutheran Church! A special thank you to the church for graciously allowing us to use this space every year – your support helps make events like this possible.
Congratulations to Brandi, who competed in Sports Nutrition and earned a silver award!

Congratulations to our Knights of the Month!
